Explore Cu Chi Tunnels Tour

A scenic two-hour journey takes us to Cu Chi District, to the west of Saigon. Once we’ve left the city behind, you’ll pass through acres of rice fields and rubber tree plantations; truly a world away from the hustle and bustle of Saigon.

On the way, we’ll stop for a comfort break and visit a lacquer painting and handicraft workshop. Once we’ve arrived at Cu Chi, there’ll be a little time to stretch your legs and check out some former military buildings before your tour kicks off!

Steps to a Cu Chi Tunnel

Your guide will introduce you to the area and we’ll watch a brief documentary on the history of the tunnels. We’ll then take off through the woods to explore the tunnels and surrounding area, while learning all about the tactics of guerilla warfare as we go.

You’ll have the option to enter several tunnels of different length, and experience life underground for yourself. Later we’ll see some examples of reconstructed weaponry used by the Vietcong, and pass the shooting site where visitors can fire an AK47 rifle or M16 machine gun, both used in the Vietnam War (bullets not incl. in tour price). You’ll also learn about life as a ‘tunnel rat’ – American soldiers tasked with infiltrating the tunnels; a job that was certainly not for the faint hearted!

Next up, we’ll head back to our transport, visiting some rice paper makers en route. This is still performed by hand, using traditional methods, and takes an enormous amount of skill and practice! We’ll enjoy some tea and tapioca – highly important sources of food and drink during wartime – before boarding our transport and making the journey back to Saigon.
