Mekong Delta 1-Day Tour
The perfect introduction to one of Vietnam’s brightest corners!
Our 1-Day Mekong Delta Tour takes you on a beautiful excursion, away from the hustle-and-bustle of Saigon to My Tho, showing you a peaceful way of life, unchanged for centuries. Leaving the Saigonese traffic behind, we’ll head out into the countryside, passing through rice fields and greenery en route to the fabulous Vinh Trang Pagoda. This special place mixes Viet, Cambodian, and Chinese architecture and offers a moment of serenity away from everyday life.
Continuing our My Tho tour, we’ll board a sampan – a traditional wooden boat still used for fishing and transport by locals in the region – and there’s no finer way to experience the Mekong’s beauty. We’ll cruise through a network of canals, passing through coconut groves and observing an ancient way of life. From here we’ll visit a coconut candy workshop, see how a famous local delicacy is made and get to try these amazing sweet-treats. Be warned though – they’re seriously addictive!
Before lunch we’ll visit an orchard, together with bee hives. You’ll have the chance to sample local honey and tropical fruit, and see why so many rate the Mekong’s bounty as the tastiest in Vietnam! And if you’re feeling brave, you’re welcome to try the local snake-infused rice wine – this packs a serious punch and is not for the fainthearted.
Relax to the sounds of traditional live folk music before enjoying a relaxing outdoor lunch. We’ll continue to explore the local area in the afternoon, via a Vietnamese ‘xe loi’ – these are the local equivalent of Thailand’s famous tuk-tuks.
