Tour the Mekong River in 3 Days
From the tranquil sights and sounds of the Mekong Delta, to Cai Rang Floating Market, and the Cambodian border, our 3-day Mekong tour will remain in your memories forever!
After a hotel pick-up in Saigon, we’ll travel out of the city to Vinh Trang Pagoda. One of Vietnam’s most important religious buildings, the pagoda mixes Chinese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian styles for a unique appearance. From here, we’ll visit My Tho and Ben Tre, exploring the region on foot and by wooden rowing boat, known locally as a ‘sampan’.
There’ll be plenty of time throughout the day to sample the local fruit, alongside Ben Tre’s famous coconut candy, sweet honey tea, and snake-infused rice wine (don’t worry, it won’t bite!) After a scrumptious lunch and tuk-tuk ride we’ll journey to Can Tho – the Mekong’s capital and Vietnam’s 5th largest city.
An early start on day 2 sees our tour take to the water! We’ll board a motorboat and visit Cai Rang Floating Market, where all trading is conducted on the river, from boat-to-boat. Enjoy the river and all of the majestic views the Mekong region has to offer, before we visit a handmade noodle workshop. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at traditional noodle-making, before we take a short cycle tour to an ancient tree and important Vietcong hideout.
Stop for a garden lunch and we’ll head to Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, a truly magical network of canals and forest-land, brimming over with wildlife and serenity. Suitably at peace, we’ll continue our tour to Chau Doc on the Cambodian border for some well-deserved relaxation.
Begin day 3 with a floating fish farm, and trip to a Cham Village, where we’ll meet people from one of Vietnam’s 54 minority groups. Later, we’ll return to Saigon with lunch en route.
